It's funny. I don't know if there are any unicycle groups at uMich, but I definitely see them at MIT all the time. There's a unicycle infestation here... every time I turn on a light I see all these unicyclers scurrying away.

Anyway, the reason why you didn't bother with PHP with prpl.net is because you didn't feel like reinventing black thread (mexican saying, sounds a lot better in spanish). There are better CMS out there, and you'd be wastiing your time working on your own. I know because I've gone through that many times with my own CMS. At first, coding it yourself is a point of pride, but later on you realize it's a waste of time that's keeping you from getting to the goal.

You didn't lose interest - as a matter of fact, you spent a lot of time trying to hack wordpress, and I wouldn't be surprised if you still know more about it than I do.

I don't think I would have any problem with a pogo stick. I used to jump rope while on my pogo ball.

Man, this post sounds to me we have enourmous matching interrests!
In the 1st place: buy that unicycle, and start practising.

Once you can ride, have a look at my largest xhtml strict + css project: unicyclist.org (over 2000 movies, and over 3000 pages). ALL of the code was written by myself by hand, and NOTHING was copied from excisting scripts. And all of the pages (except those that contain windows media or real) do validate!

And flash? Watch my personal website unicycle.net. It was originally made in 1998, and I don't dare to make radical changes, as "the interaction" does work.

Exchanging MySQL (or other db flavours) data from/to flash is not that hard.
But Flex (server-side generated flash by having xml files as input) is more complicated. Besides that I had Flash communication server: retrieving/broadcasting av signal from visitors mic and webcam.

Also I have an hosting ISP company named unixcycle.com, who could host that purplegiraffe.net for you...

Hope to hear from you soon.
