My web presence has returned, albeit in a different form. After not having the patience to update my old code and playing with flash but getting bored before finishing, I decided to give in to WordPress. Then, any time I saved by using wordpress was burned photoshopping the custom header image. You can see the images I used in the gallery. Oh well – I’m proud of its grungy goodness.

I think this site parallels my life right now – a clean slate. Yes, I’ve invested some amount of time getting things set up and moving in the right direction, but I sense good things coming. When I moved up here, Ryan with me, I set out to establish my Michigan Life; it was a slow start. Ryan and I were in very different situations (me in grad school, him taking a few classes and freelance jobs). I had no interest in staying out until 3am to go to graphics club meetings, and he wasn’t too keen on going to tailgate parties thrown by my acquaintances from school. Ever go somewhere with a person who just wants to go home? You never have as much fun, and the next time you just stay home rather than deal with it. My circle here was small, Ryan and I didn’t pan out, and then I found myself dumped by a person still in Fl who I always considered a great friend. Nothing quite like that combination to make you feel lonely.

Moving on. My social circle has been expanding this past month, I ran into and caught up with a bunch of people I haven’t seen since classes ended in April, and classes (with lots of new people) are about to start after Labor Day. I actually think I went out more these past two weekends then I did the rest of this year combined. Life is becoming fun again.

I just moved into a new apartment with a new roommate (Meghan), so there’s another clean slate. Other than the weak A/C, I love this place. I don’t think I could beat the location – The lab and State St. are both a 10 minute walk, I can get to the downtown library in 15, Angelos is right around the corner, the farmers market is just down the street…you get the idea.
