Someone recently asked me what I would say about myself if I wrote a personal ad. It’s a strange sort of exercise, attempting to pick out what about yourself others might find interesting. I don’t really participate in extreme sports, I’ve never had the money to travel, and nobody could ever describe me as passionate about politics or Hollywood. (However, I did go rock climbing (in a gym) once and enjoyed it, and I really really want to travel. Any desire to be more passionate about politics or Hollywood is generally fleeting, surfacing, for example, during a game of Cranium or Trivial Pursuit.) Anyway, I guess if I had to write an ad about myself, the list of things I might include would look something like…

  • Female in her mid-20s
  • In grad school to get a Masters and PhD in Biomedical Engineering (done by 2009, maybe?)
  • Thinks lizards are cute (and keeps them as pets)
  • Enjoys learning how to do new things…but then gets bored
  • Laughs easily and often
  • Values good friends above most anything
  • Was the bookworm kid w/ a flashlight (and 2 backups in case Mom caught her)
  • Recently got back into the reading swing…hence the Reading Log on this site
  • Analytical, perhaps to a fault
  • Plays piano and wishes hers wasn’t a 17hr drive away
  • Plays violin, though not much in recent years
  • Wants a family someday
  • Loves nature
  • Doesn’t have many “favorites” (color, band, movie, book, etc)
  • Incurable chocaholic (dark > milk > white)
